At our Surgery Center, you are able to have your surgery in a state-licensed operating room and recover under the care of the nursing staff during the same day, all without a hospital admission.
Our surgery team has the skills necessary to ensure that you receive the highest quality and most personalized care possible. Our goal is to keep you safe and comfortable during your procedure. You will be cared for as if you were one of our own family members.
As the first freestanding multi-specialty outpatient ambulatory surgical center (ASC) in northern Michigan, The Surgery Center is.available for use by state licensed surgeons on a reserved basis.
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) recognize the use of ASCs as a cost-effective alternative to higher cost settings, such as hospital inpatient surgery.

Cataract Surgery - Dr. Hanley's technique in cataract surgery has developed a new concept in surgical efficiency. Using a small incision, no-stitch technique along with our micro-incisional equipment, we feel we provide an advantage for your recovery. Minimaly invasive techniques mean less trauma. The Surgery Center also offers the advantage of a controlled environment to reduce the risk of complications.

Same Day Surgery - We continue to look at opportunities to help your and your family arrange your schedules. Our Center can now handle Same-Day-Surgery. Same-day-surgery means the initial evaluation with the surgeon (Dr. Hanley), eye measurements & testing, and the actual cataract surgery, are performed on the same day. Please call our office and speak with one of our surgical scheduling staff if this is a service that may be beneficial to you. The staff will assist in setting up your evaluation time, along with an appointment with your family doctor, for surgical clearance.

Vitreo-Retinal Surgery - Dr. Hanley now offers "no stitch" vitreoretinal surgery for select retinal pathology along with routine vitrectomy for diabetics with vitreous hemmorhage, macular hole, vitreous floaters, and other retinal pathology. This surgery is conveniently done on an outpatient basis for our patients.

Glaucoma Surgery - Dr. Hanley completed certification in implanting the Aquaflow Collagen Device in 2003 and has since added this procedure as a means of helping you reduce the number of multiple glaucoma drops you may need to take. Dr. Hanley also treats glaucoma with drops, laser and/or surgery, including the Aquaflow Collagen Shunt.
